What does the training involve?
The Instructor College Direct instructor training course is designed to thoroughly prepare you for a successful career as an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI). We will prepare you in turn for each of the three government tests which are a legal requirement for you to become a driving instructor. We will also provide training in the practicalities of being a driving instructor, an essential ingredient in ensuring your success and earnings, covering such topics as pupil retention and diary management.
We are totally committed to your success. This means that should you not succeed after all three attempts at the Part II or Part III stage, we will allow you to recommence your training free of charge after the DSA (DVTA in Northern Ireland) statutory re-qualification period. This retraining offer does not include exam or registration fees, and is open for a period of 6 months after the DSA have allowed you to recommence training.
We offer a unique examination pass assurance scheme. This means that if you complete our training course with commitment and enthusiasm but require further training to pass the examinations then this will be provided at no extra cost.
Training Stage I
A distance learning package to cover the theory aspects of becoming an instructor and to prepare you for the government Part I examination, which comprises 100 multi choice questions and a hazard perception test. The topics covered include knowledge of the Highway Code, driving and teaching techniques, the UK driving test and hazard awareness. The package includes all reference books, DVDs, mock examinations and unlimited Tutor Support.
Training Stage II
Tuition is a practical in-car driving skills course in preparation for the government Part II examination, which is not unlike an advanced driving test. Training will be conducted around nominated DSA test centres. The specially structured training sessions will ensure your readiness for the Part II test.
Training Stage III
Training is a practical in-car teaching skills course in preparation for the government Part III examination, conducted in a similar way to the Part II training. So long as you put the effort in, we will too! We want you to be successful!
